CAMDEN, NJ – Camden Community Partnership (CCP) President and CEO Dana L. Redd today announced that the organization has been awarded a $525,000 grant from the William Penn Foundation, under its Improving Public Spaces Program, to support the Roosevelt Plaza Park improvement project. For the past few decades, the William Penn Foundation has been the regional leader in investing in trails and public spaces.
“Roosevelt Plaza Park has become an important gathering place right in the heart of Camden, and having been involved in the park’s restoration, I know how meaningful this space is to our community,” said Ms. Redd. “We are grateful to the William Penn Foundation for its continued commitment to Camden and for recognizing the tremendous potential of this public space. These improvements will create an even more welcoming, vibrant, and accessible destination for residents, workers, visitors, and the many people who come to downtown Camden to enjoy community events and programming.”
The William Penn Foundation grant will complement the $1.1 million grant CCP received as part of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Urban Investment Fund program last fall to support improvements at Roosevelt Plaza Park. The project will enhance the park with new shaded social seating, interactive digital signage, and a dynamic stage designed to accommodate high-quality programming and events.
