The new Camden High School Campus opened on August 31 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Campus is a 270,000 square-foot school designed to educate approximately 1,200 students in grades 9 through 12. The District public high school will be home to four learning communities – Camden High Academy, Brimm Medical Arts Academy, Creative Arts Academy, and Big Picture Learning Academy. Each school has its own separate entrance, designated color, and learning resource center used for gatherings.
The $133 million high school campus is a centerpiece of the community. In recognition of the community’s connection with the former Camden High School facility, the new Camden High Campus includes items preserved from the previous building: the iconic original archway and stairs on Park Boulevard, salvaged terracotta architectural artifacts, key sections of the original basketball court and the original dated cornerstone and time capsule, all of which are presented throughout the building.
The new state of the art campus includes: an auditorium, cafeteria divided into four areas, gymnasium and an auxiliary gymnasium, weight room, an occupational/physical therapy room, PE/team locker room, JAG and ROTC classrooms, daily living skills classroom and a daily living skills lab
In addition, the campus also includes state of the art and modern classrooms, libraries, science and learning labs, art & music rooms, a TV/broadcasting studio, resource centers and more for the Camden High Academy, Creative Arts Academy, Creative Arts Academy and Medical Arts Academy.
