City's Unemployment Rate Hit a Historic Low in September

The city has shown a sharp rebound from the economic doldrums of the COVID pandemic, at least as measured by the estimated unemployment rate.

In September, the latest month available, the city's estimated unemployment rate – the percentage of city residents who are in the labor force and unemployed – fell to a historic low since the state began collecting the data, according to Camden County.

The estimated unemployment rate in Camden in September stood at 5.5% against a high of 22% in July 2020 during the pandemic. The estimated 1,500 city residents unemployed in September were far less than 6,300 in July 2020, according to data collected by the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
