$25,000 Challenge: Extra Motivation for High School Seniors to Submit Aid Forms

When lifelong Camden resident Jinell Reid heads to Yale University in the fall, the Camden Academy Charter High School senior likely will have some of the usual freshman jitters that come with facing a new experience away from home.

But, unlike most college students, one thing the 17-year-old will not need to worry about is money: She has a full scholarship to the Connecticut Ivy League school.

In many ways, her good fortune started out with spending 20 minutes or so filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA form, that lays out her family's finances and is examined by colleges when they decide how much to help students with grants or scholarships.
